Bryan brings over 10 years of coaching experience, including 5 years coaching female hockey to this role. Female Midget AAA Hockey 2012-2013 Season Information:
Date Posted: Friday, May 11, 2012
As you may be aware, Hockey Winnipeg hosted two Female Midget AAA teams that participated in the provincial Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) this past season. We were very pleased with the level of competition and the success of the league and look forward to bigger and better things in the 2012/2013 season. For more information on the Winnipeg teams and the league please go to www.mfmhl.com
We have formed a committee that is mandated to oversee and run the Midget AAA program that will see some changes and improvements for next season. Central registration for those female players with birth years 1995, 1996, 1997 interested in trying out for one of the two Midget AAA teams will be done online through the Hockey Winnipeg website at www.hockeywinnipeg.ca. Registration will run from May 22 to June 25 and tryouts will start on September 4th and run for up to two weeks. A change for this year is that this registration is for Midget AAA only. All players will still be required to register at their respective home club for the winter hockey season. Midget AA and A1 teams will be formed in home areas and not through a centralized tryout process.
We are also pleased to announce that Ashley VanAggelen will return as the coach of the Winnipeg Avros. Interviews are currently underway to fill the vacant Winnipeg Ice coaching position and we expect that the new coach will be announced by May 16th. Both coaches will have assembled strong coaching staff’s and will have people in place for goaltender development and off-ice training. We expect to have a 30 game league schedule with each team attending at least 4 showcase events for a total of approximately 60 games. There will be no new teams in the league next year and we expect to have all 9 teams return. One of the mandates of the league is to showcase our players and to help create scholarship opportunities. There will be an increased focus in this area with support from the Midget AAA committee.
Please refer to the Hockey Winnipeg website for more details and updates and ensure that you visit the website on a regular basis. If you have any questions, please email vpfemale@hockeywinnipeg.ca .
